One of the ways I plan on reaching $10K per month in one year is through my blog. That means I need to get serious about it and view it as a business. While I’ve said on here before that my blog has been a business from the start and that I didn’t start this blog just as a “hobby” blog, my actions were saying otherwise. I prioritized freelance work over blogging and was never consistent in how often I was posting. I would get burnt out and post a few times a month, regain steam and post a few times a week, and then get burnt out again. I’m sure anyone who blogs can relate.
I started really getting serious about my blog again in September 2015. Since then, my pageviews have doubled.
As of September 2016, I am consistently bringing in $1000+ per month through my blog only! No more freelancing for this gal!

In August 2015, my pageviews were right around 14,000. I thought this wasn’t too bad considering I hovered around the 8,000 mark for a while. My pageviews were nothing impressive (and still aren’t!), but I’m still proud of the fact that they’ve doubled. Currently, my pageviews from Sept 19 to Oct 19 are 32,703. Again, nothing to write home about, but they’ve been increasing at the rate of roughly 500 views per day. If this continues at this rate, I should be at 50,000 monthly views by the end of the year!
Today, I’m sharing exactly how I managed to double my pageviews in one month. It wasn’t luck and it did take a considerable amount of work on my end, but the results are worth it. This is my business, and I want it to be successful.
How to Double Your Pageviews
Post Consistently
For over a month now, I’ve been posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday like clockwork. I will admit, this has been rough for me, but I do think it’s a schedule I can maintain because IT WORKS!!! Posting consistently lets my readers know when they can find a new post. I strongly believe that it’s not how often you post, but how consistently you post. If you only have time to post once a week, then do that! Just make sure you always have a post ready each week. It’s your blog, it’s your schedule.
Use Pinterest!
You can follow me on Pinterest here. If you notice, I have 116 boards right now, many of them group boards. I spent a good few hours each night finding group boards and asking the owners if I could be added. I try to do this task monthly! The more boards you join, the greater your exposure.
Now, for the fun part of Pinterest. When it comes to pinning, you have two options:
- You can pin everything yourself manually.
- you can rely on a service to do the pinning for you.
I chose the latter, as I am short on time and have no desire to spend hours per week pinning all of my content, both old and new. Enter Tailwind.
I use Tailwind for all my Pinterest scheduling and it has been a LIFESAVER!!! It costs just $15 per month or, if you pay annually, you’ll pay only $10 per month. I started out with the monthly membership plan of $15. However, with that plan, you can only pin up to 400 pins per month. At first, that may seem like a ton, but if you have a lot of boards and a lot of posts, it goes fast. Within two weeks, I upgraded to the annual plan which is UNLIMITED pins per month! Right now I’m pinning OVER 100 PINS PER DAY and spending maybe 15 minutes a week on Tailwind.
If you’re interested in this service, you can get a month FOR FREE through my link and by clicking the image below.
I’m by no-means the most tech savvy person (in fact I’m probably the least), but Tailwind is so easy that even I understand how to use it. You simply add your Pinterest boards to your boards list (under “Publish”) and then create a pinning schedule under “Your Schedule.” Install the Tailwind button on your toolbar and start pinning and scheduling your favorite posts. You can schedule as far out as you want. I currently schedule about one week’s worth of posts each Sunday. Then, as new posts go live during the week, I add those to my schedule. Easy peasy. What are you waiting for?!? Sign up for Tailwind now!
Improve Pinterest images
Your images are HUGE when it comes to Pinterest. If you’re currently not too happy with yours, my friend Kristin created packages of fully customizable Pinterest images to meet your exact needs. Each pack of six images is just $10! Seriously, such a time saver and your images will look awesome!
So, those are the two ways I was able to double my pageviews in a month. I’m hoping I’ll have a similar post next month on how I doubled my pageviews again, but we’ll see 🙂
And, as a treat, if you are interested in starting a blog or are a new blogger, I have a new eBook, The Beginner’s Guide to Blogging. I am SO excited about this book!! And best of all, it’s going to be FREE for any new blogger that signs up for Bluehost using my link!
Does anyone have any questions for me? And what is your number one tip for increasing your traffic? Share in the comments!
Pinterest has been a boon to my traffic, too.
It requires a substantial time commitment though, so I’m going to have to take a look at Tailwind.
Good luck. Hope the numbers keep climbing.
Yes!! Look at Tailwind! Before I was using ViralWoot (I think) and would schedule everything manually. That took FOREVER and my traffic didn’t double until I finally did Tailwind. You can do unlimited pins per day and it’s all scheduled out. I have 50 pins per day right now and that would be completely impossible to do manually.
Okay, this might finally be the push to get me to start a personal Pinterest account!!!
Yes!! Get your Pinterest set and up join some group boards, then purchase Tailwind if that’s the route you want to go! Pinterest is my favorite social media platform 🙂
Great job on doubling your traffic in just one month Sarah, that’s seriously so awesome! 🙂 I agreed, Pinterest and utilizing Tailwind to be able to take advantage of Pinterest traffic have been fabulous ways to increase my page views as well!!
Definitely!! Yours have increased tenfold!! Mine would be more of an accomplishment if I went from 100K to 200K in a month lol, but I’m happy with the results I am seeing so far!
Great job in improving your page views. I can’t imagine 8,000 page views!
I’m not at the point of investing additional money into my blog. But once I get there, I may look into tailwind. I’ve gotten great reviews.
Tailwind is awesome!! I recommend getting your Pinterest page perfect first and make sure to join a lot of group boards. Then, move forward with Tailwind! It’s so easy 🙂
I think I’ll try tailwind. I like how you share everything you’re doing. It really helps out newbie bloggers like myself.
Oh that’s great to hear!! I figure we are all in this together. May as well help each other succeed!
I’ve been struggling a bit with posting more and doing it consistently. I did want to thank you for the encouragement to kick up my efforts with freelancing. Just today I landed a new freelancing gig, yay!
Wow, that’s a lot of page views, congratulations! You have obviously been working really hard on the blog for a long time — that’s awesome! 🙂
Congrats on your eBook! I don’t use Tailwind, but am going to look at it as I continue to grow. My blog is still growing, so it’s nice to see how the numbers flow for you. I post twice a week now, which I’m super excited about. This blogging gig is addicting. 🙂
Thanks for the great post.
Hi Jolene!! Yes, blogging can be very addicting haha!! I really like it! I’d still do it even if I never made money off of it. I highly recommend Tailwind. And just Pinterest in general! My traffic has been increasing a lot lately and it’s mostly because of Pinterest! Let me know if you have questions. Can’t wait to check out your blog!!
I’m in EBA and just started using Tailwind – about to finish the free month. I plan to buy for the year next.
I am SO trying to increase my traffic. Sarah, your site is inspiring me! I’ve joined a few boards on Pinterest and am looking for more. We are waitlisted to adopt our first child and I’ll be staying home full time. I am ready to get to that 50,000-100,000 view mark and it’s hard to know how to.
Thanks for your encouraging posts!!
