- Save more money each month (this is reason #1)
- Pay extra toward our mortgage (this is our only debt as my online income was able to pay off our SUV last year)
- Take family vacations more often
- Replace my full-time income (2017 end-of-year goal) <-this has been MET. I quit my job in March!!
- Replace my husband’s full-time income (long-term goal)

How to Be a Stay-at-Home Mom without Changing Your Lifestyle
I think it’s safe to say that working moms would enjoy the possibility of being a stay-at-home mom if it meant keeping their lifestyle the same. I personally am one of those crazy people who actually enjoys my full-time job, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t even consider what it would be like to stay home.
Here’s the thing, though. I think the majority of us working moms would miss having “something for ourselves.” We’d miss contributing to the family financially, and we’d definitely miss socializing with other adults (big one for me!!). If this is exactly how you feel, keep reading.
Online Income Report and How Blogging Has Changed My Life
Happy October! It’s income report time!
I cannot believe September is over. October is my favorite month of the year, and this year, it’s even more near and dear to my heart because it’s BABY MONTH!! Our third little girl is due on Halloween 🙂
And I am ready! This pregnancy hasn’t been “hard” per se, but nearing the end is always a challenge. My stomach is so big (baby girl is measuring two weeks ahead, which could mean a bigger baby or extra fluid, but either way my belly is large, haha) and it’s been hard trying to keep up with my other two little girls. Thankfully, my husband has been an incredible support system and helper.
My parents are coming into town in just a couple of weeks and then I’ll be starting my maternity leave! When I had my first baby, I had recently quit my job and was just getting started with freelancing. With my second baby, I was knee-deep in freelance writing and had just accepted a job as an editor (from home). This time, I’ll have no “real” obligations other than my blog, which is my all-time favorite hobby/side gig that I’m super excited to be able to spend more time on. Lots of exciting things to come your way, including the launch of my very first course!
Alright, let’s take a look at September’s online income report.
How to Make Six Figures a Year as a Freelance Writer
The median household income is just under $52,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. I don’t know about you, but in my opinion that is not enough money for a family of four to live off of. Healthcare expenses, emergency funds, retirement accounts, rent/mortgage, etc would leave nothing left over for “fun,” at least, not without getting into debt.
What if I told you there was a way to bring in substantial income for your family from the comfort of your own home? The internet and technology has made that possible for thousands of people. With a little knowledge, the right resources and a HUGE desire to succeed, I believe that anyone can make six figures (or more!) per year as a freelance writer from home.
I started freelance writing over four years ago. I’m going to be completely honest with you – I truly believe it was easier back then to break into the field than it is now. Freelancing has become so popular over the years, and for good reason!! Who wouldn’t want to be their own boss, set their own hours, choose their assignments and have an unlimited income potential?!
But, if you truly want to pursue this now – whether you’re a SAHM looking to bring in extra income for your family or you’re hoping to quit your FT job and become a business owner – there are a few things you need to do to be successful and land jobs. No longer can you just respond to a few job postings and hope for the best. Freelance writing is too competitive now; you need to build a portfolio and make it so you stand out from the pack!
Ready to start your journey to six figures a year as a freelance writer?! Follow these steps!
Online Income Report: Blogging and Freelancing
It’s that time again, August’s online income report! If you’re new here, I share monthly income reports to track my earnings through blogging and freelancing. I’ve been freelance writing since May 2012 but don’t do too much of that anymore. For now, my focus is on earning and income through my blog. And, I’m happy to report that so far, so good.
I started this blog in Sept 2014, so exactly two years ago. It took me five months to make my first $100 blogging; and now I’m consistently making over $1,000 per month.
If you’re interested in starting your own blog, check out my tutorial on How to Start a Profitable Blog. Blogging will not make you money right away, but I truly believe that if you stick with it for a good year, you’ll start to see your hard work pay off (big time!). Right now, I’m spending just 10 hours per month on my blog (and again, I’m making over $1,000). If I can do this, so can you!

2 Guaranteed Ways to Stop Stressing About Money
We’ve all been there: bills are due, things around the house keep breaking, a child gets sick, we of course need to eat, and basically the expenses just don’t stop rolling in.
I would say our “low” point was right after our first daughter was born (this was about four years ago). I had quit my full-time job when she was born and was just starting to break into freelancing. My husband was working for himself in construction and remodeling. We had just gotten back from a week-long family reunion (that my parents so graciously paid for or else we would not have been there) which meant my husband missed an entire week of work. We had savings, but for a few months, we were forced to make so many withdrawals that we were practically down to nothing.
I hated that feeling. Every day I woke up with a pit in my stomach. We lived in a very, very modest house (we purchased our first home for less than $150K), we ate pasta with sauteed onions for dinner multiple times per week, we didn’t go out to eat, and we by no means went shopping for fun. We were on a super tight budget, and even then we were still just scraping by.
Can anyone else relate to this?
Stressing about money sucks, period. And heck, I’ll say it, being on a tight budget sucks, too!
Fast-forward four years later (now), and we’ve completely changed our situation. I can honestly say that I haven’t been stressed about money (in that sense) in a while, and it feels incredible. I’m sleeping better, I’m happier and have a healthier outlook on life, my relationship with my husband is better than ever, and I’m truly enjoying life.

Online Income Report: How I Made $3,200 Online in One Month
I am so, so excited about this month’s online income report! This is my highest month ever, including the two years I freelanced and blogged only (I currently have a FT job in addition to freelancing and blogging).
And, the even more exciting news is I only spent about 10 hours this entire month freelancing and blogging! This is where my years of hard work on the blog are finally starting to pay off, and honestly I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this little blog of mine!
If you’ve been considering starting a blog, now is the time to start one! It’s by no means a “get rich quick” scheme, but it absolutely will give you an extra source of income in due time. You can read my post on How Long It Takes to Make Money with Your Blog to get a better idea here.
Ok, let’s get started with this month’s income report!
