BIG NEWS: I got a full-time job!

big newsSorry I’ve been MIA the past week. Last week was a busy one – I actually applied for a full-time office job last Sunday and after a phone interview, an in-person interview meeting with four different people and a writing and editing test, I was offered the job!

To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I’m going to warn you in advance that this post might be rather long and jumbled, but I’ll do my best to organize my thoughts in a way that’s easy to read and understand.

Interview on Debt Discipline!

I recently had the privilege of being interviewed over on Brian’s blog – Debt Discipline. Brian and his family have paid off more than $100,000 worth of debt in just over 4 years and have even been featured on Yahoo! If you’re looking to pay off debt or just looking for some awesome finance advice, I highly recommend his blog!

My dream home

4928263504_79c9fab7bf_bOne of the reasons we moved to North Carolina was for more affordable housing prices. The neighborhoods aren’t the nicest in both places, but they’re also not the worst. Where we live, I feel like there are sooo many more “nice” neighborhoods than average ones. I used to think I would be really happy in a small, very inexpensive little home on a lot of land. While that is still true, I’m not going to lie…I kind of want one of those really nice houses in my dream neighborhood (!!).

bath and body works candle1While I admitted that I’m more about earning more money than saving more money, I’m still pretty cheap by nature. I don’t enjoy spending money on shopping sprees, I get my hair cut at Great Clips about once a year, I can’t remember the last time I got a pedicure or manicure, I don’t go on lavish vacations (though I wouldn’t mind that one) and I don’t spoil my kids rotten (even though I may want to).

That being said, there are definitely still quite a few things I’m just not willing to give up in order to save more money.

7 Things you don’t know about me

Family photo3So I’ve been thinking about this post all day and, sadly, I think it’s much easier to write a post on finances than it is to think of 7 random things about myself! I feel like I’m a pretty “vanilla” person haha, but here goes! And thanks to Michelle at Making Sense of Cents for the nomination!
