If you read my post last week, you knew I had a surprise announcement coming up! Well, that day has finally come 🙂
We are expecting (surprise!) Baby #3 on Halloween and couldn’t be more excited! I’ll be honest, we have gone back and forth on whether or not to have a third child. Our first two are finally a bit more independent, it’s way easier to go places, I have a full-time job, and life just works. Adding a new baby to the mix is certain to stir things up, but this was clearly meant to be since our new little bundle was not planned (in fact, at the time, we had of course decided we were done having kids). Funny how life works and how God has a plan all of His own 🙂
The Details
I’m currently 12 weeks along and due on October 31. I had my first ultrasound appointment at 10 weeks where they found a hematoma, or blood clot. It’s not super serious, but I do have to be extra-monitored and am on modified bed rest. I go in for a follow-up ultrasound at 14 weeks to see what’s going on with the clot. Hopefully, it’s completely gone and I can resume normal activity.
On the bright side, extra ultrasounds mean we get to find out the gender of this little babe early 🙂 In fact, we’ll find out at our 14-week scan assuming baby cooperates. We already have two little girls, so a little boy would be fantastic. However, another girl would be equally as wonderful! I love being a girl mom and think it’d be so fun to be the mom of three daughters. We’ll see 🙂
Finances, Work and Blog
Since my husband and I both work full-time, finances won’t be an issue for now. We do need most likely need to get a different vehicle, though. We currently drive a Chevy Traverse which seats 8. You would think we could make this work! 😉 However, the third row is pretty small and all three kids will be in carseats for a time. We haven’t tried yet, but I don’t think three will fit across the second row. And we can’t really put our oldest in the third row because she’d have to climb over and buckle herself. Or, I’d have to climb over to buckle and unbuckle her, which would be even worse haha. Oh, the dilemma. Anyone else out there have three in carseats?! What kind of vehicle do you drive??
The blog won’t be changing – though I may have a few more baby-oriented posts popping up. My posts also might be a bit more sporadic depending on how I’m feeling and time. I do still want to reach $10K per month by October, but even I fall short, I’ll still call it an accomplishment since I wasn’t planning on having a baby this year.
As for my full-time job, I intend to stay working even after the baby comes. I’ll take a nice, long maternity leave and then ease back into working. My schedule is super flexible, and for that I am incredibly grateful. Since I love my job and it’s flexible, there’s no reason to leave in my opinion! (However, if the blog is making $10K/month, I’m sure I’ll be singing a different tune!)
So, that’s what’s been going on around here lately! The blog has been a little quiet simply because I was SO exhausted and sick most of the first trimester. As of last week, though, my energy has resumed and I’m feeling great!
Now, don’t mind me while I head to the kitchen for my third snack of the afternoon…
Awwww congrats!!!!! I was thinking this might be the reason for the slow posting. Thats such exciting news – hope all goes well!!
Thanks Amanda!! Yup, that was exactly it!!! I feel like after a day of work at my FT job I’m just spent! And then weekends are so busy with errands and cleaning haha!
Congratulations! We have 3 kids and I’ve enjoyed my 3rd baby the most because I know that everything is just a stage and it goes by so fast. Good luck with all your blog goals-you can totally do it!
Awww thanks that is so encouraging!!! I really hope I enjoy our third the most, too. The first was so hard haha, and with the second I was freelancing a ton and my first was just 16 months, so that was also hard. So, I’m super excited that things are a bit calmer now and I can try to enjoy our third (and last, haha) baby!
Congratulations! What exciting news! I’m happy to hear you are feeling better and am excited to find out if it’s a boy or girl! You are one busy mama!
Thank you!! And yes I am dying to know whether or not it’s a boy or a girl!! My first two pregnancies were so different that I was certain my second was a boy, but nope!! So this time I have no guesses haha!
Congrats! That’s super exciting! I hope everything clears up at your next appointment 🙂
Thanks, Lance!! I’ll keep you posted! 🙂
Congrats, Sarah! You look great — looking forward to following along with your blogging goals 🙂 Good luck!
Congratulations! I feel like everyone I know is pregnant right now. Our second will be here in early August, and I can’t wait for maternity leave! As for the car seats, we have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I bought our car seats specifically planning to be able to fit three in a row (we don’t even have a third row as an option). Everything I read online said that the Chicco Keyfit will fit between two Diono Radion convertible seats. We’ve got one of each right now, and we’ll get the second Radion when Baby #3 comes along. No telling if it will work out until we have all three seats, but based on the car seats measurements and the width of the back seat, we should be good to go. I just wanted to hold off on a minivan as long as possible! 🙂
Congrats on baby #3! That is so incredibly exciting!
Congrats Sarah! 🙂 That’s awesome news for you and the family..
Sure everything will work out for you and looking forward to hearing more as news progresses
Congrats! My third just celebrated his first birthday – it has been an adjustment, but a lot of fun. We currently have a small SUV and a pickup truck. Everyone assumed we were going to buy a van when I got pregnant with him, but we’ve been making do with our two vehicles for now. We don’t go that many places as a whole family because the oldest is in Kindergarten. On the rare occasion that we do all go somewhere, we borrow my father-in-law’s bit Grand Marquis. That fits all three car seats.
Hope you continue to feel great 🙂
Congrats on the pregnancy Sarah! Excited for you!! 🙂
That’s great news, Sarah! Congratulations.
Sarah,
I’ve only just learned about you via Pinterest and I’m so happy to hear this. Love your blog and looking forward to your baby-related posts because I’m pretty sure I’m done (having twins an all is more than enough for me!)
Congrats Sarah, sounds like it will be an exciting year!
Keep us posted 🙂
Congratulations! It’s been awhile since I’ve visited your blog but am glad I stopped in and saw your post. I too am expecting, we have boy/girl twins due September 18th. Although given my history of delivering preemies we are aiming for mid August putting me at 35 weeks. I can sympathize with having to be on modified bed rest as I was on it with both of my boys and am now on restrictions with these to as well.
My older boys are only twenty months apart (now 4 and 5 1/2 years old) and they were both in car seats for a long time. We have a Ford Windstar and there was no way we have put a third car seat in the same row. Once the twins are here we will move the boys to the way back and the 5 1/2 year old will have to help his brother buckle his booster seat.
Congrats again on the new addition to your family!
